A History of Apple’s Operating Systems

This is a great article on the history of Apple’s OSes since the very begining.

It is taken from the excelent site kernelthread.com that is managed by Amit Singh.

Amit Singh is currently working on a book called “OS X Internals”, it sounds like a “must have”.

PocketMac. PocketPC – Not only for Windows anymore

Using the PocketMac application you can sync your PocketPC and your Mac. So all you switchers can dust off your PocketPC device, while we’re waiting for Steve to bring back the Newton – or something even cooler.

Is the PowerBook an “altar”?

PowerBook screen with Apple logo shining throughThe PowerBook, and especially the newest version from January 2005, looks like an altar to the Mighty Apple. When you shine a strong light from behind the screen – the Sun is an excellent candidate – the Apple logo shines very clearly, as shown in the picture. And what happens when the screen isn’t backlit, and you shine light from behind? Well it gets downright eerie, with the Apple logo oscillating in a fuzzy haze – it looks really cool. This MUST be by design, or am I seeing things?

The problem was most annoying with Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, so finally I decided to do something about it.
