Last.fm is a really clever idea. You install a plug-in for your media player, that automatically uploads a list of songs you’ve listened to. Based on your preferences, the music you’ve listened to and other users preferences, the service can make recommendations for you, for instance, based on similarity.

Orkut’s idea of “funny”
Orkut is obviously in the process of being given a serious overhaul, but the error messages that I get these days are just a little too upbeat – to the brink of being downright annoying.
Bad, bad server. No donut for you.
Unfortunately, the orkut.com server has acted out in an unexpected way. Hopefully, it will return to its helpful self if you try again in a few minutes.
It’s likely that the server will behave this way on occasion during the coming months. We apologize for the inconvenience and for our server’s lack of consideration for others.
Tor: An anonymous Internet communication system
If you live in a totalitarian society – like most of do 😉 consider joining the Tor network. Supported by EFF (Electonic Frontier Foundation).
My iPod nano does draw some comments. Since I got the nano lanyard and started wearing the nano around my neck, people have stopped me and asked what it is – the reaction is much like the iPod nano TV add. But since the nano can be used to break the ice – it’s a good opportunity do some switching evangelism.
iriver Global Home – portable digital devices on steriods
When it comes to features in portable digitial devices, iriver runs circles around Apple. iriver even have the audacity to market some of their new products using a picture of an attractive lady eating an apple – yummy 😀
Reporters sans frontières – Handbook for bloggers and cyber-dissidents
RSF has published a handbook for bloggers – eg. indivduals that publish to the web – like yours truly. In many countries with totalitarian regimes, bloggers are the only real journalists.
This is a very useful guide…Including detailed instructions on how to publish to the Internet annonymously – e.g. using proxies. Big thumbs up to RSF.
The Aperture – all-in-one post-production tool for photographers
Apperture looks like an incredibly powerful piece of software for post production of still-images. Aperture targets professional photographers, who want to work directly with RAW formats.
I ‘ve just downloaded and installed Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 2. So far it looks like it is working quite well.
Get it here:

The only improvement I’ve noticed so far, is that the RSS subscription icon has been moved to the right of the address bar. This is actually quite a useful improvement, since it makes it easier to see when a site has a feed that you can subscribe to.
PocketMac. PocketPC – Not only for Windows anymore
Using the PocketMac application you can sync your PocketPC and your Mac. So all you switchers can dust off your PocketPC device, while we’re waiting for Steve to bring back the Newton – or something even cooler.
Unfortunately there are major problems with foreign character sets, like my native language, Danish.
I just found out that NASA is planning a mission to Pluto – the last planet in the solar system that hasn’t been explored by a robotic mission – at least if you exlude the newly discovered 10th planet.
The mission is to be managed, among others, by the The Applied Physics Laboratory (JHUAPL) at John Hopkins University and The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the Caltech institute, that manages most of the US robotic missions to the planets.
